A poll, a poll!

Okay, this isn’t the most creative question, but I’m genuinely curious about what our readers enjoy reading! It’s multiple choice, so if you’re torn between a few genres, you can choose more than one. And if I forgot your favorite, just write it in!

I voted, but I would have to say that what I voted for ties with modern literature. Novels written by such authors as Zafon, Saramago, etc. don’t really fall into the genres above, but I would count them as more modern lit. Thanks for the poll though! It’s been fun and I will be back to see what the results were!

Are we including steampunk as fantasy or sci-fi? Augh!

Good question! I was originally tempted to make a genre of “Fantasy/Sci-fi” (which would have solved your steampunk issue) but then I remembered some rather impassioned essay I read years ago that was extremely disgruntled because the two were forever joined at the hip (and sold in one heading in one section in bookstores) when really they have very little in common aside from unreality. Therefore, I made them two separate ones and created your quandary. Sorry!

What did you end up choosing?

Oh, I don’t even remember. Probably contemporary fiction, fantasy, classics and historical fiction. I’ve noticed lately, though, that the more classics I read, the less historical fiction I’m interested in!
